You might get the following error message when you are trying to upload images/files using Media Manager option in Joomla.
JCE Editor: JFTP::login: Unable to login JFTP::store: JFTP::mkdir: Bad response
The error message usually occurs due to some misconfiguration in the in-built Joomla FTP. Given below are the two possible solutions to resolve the issue.
Correcting the FTP configuration settings:
1. Login to your Joomla site.
2. Select Global Configuration.
3. In the popup box, click on 'Server' .
4. Now start configuring FTP as follows.
FTP Settings:
Most of these settings are set during the installation of Joomla.
* Enable FTP: This setting tells Joomla to use it's built-in FTP function.
* FTP Host: The server's URL connecting the FTP.
* FTP Port: The port where the FTP is accessed. The default setting is 21.
* FTP User-name: The user-name that Joomla will use when accessing the FTP server.
* FTP Password: The password that Joomla will use when accessing the FTP server.
* FTP Root: The root directory where files should be uploaded to.
Disable the inbuilt Joomla FTP:
Given below are the steps to disable the inbuilt Joomla FTP.
1. Login to your Joomla admin panel.
2. Go to Site > Global Configuration > Server.
3. Select NO corresponding to the option "Enable FTP box".
3. Click Save.
