There is a bug in the Linux kernel for Centos 6.x which causes multi threaded applications to get stuck unexpectedly. In the case of cPProtect, we use "pigz", a modern implementation of gzip for modern multi-core processors to compress backup files. Since pigz uses multi-threading, the above mentioned bug could affect it. As a result, the process might get stuck and we will have to manually kill the process so that the backup continues.

Solution

This bug was fixed in later releases of Linux kernel. If you're running a Kernel which is older than 2.6.32-504.16.2, we strongly recommend you to upgrdae your kernel to a later version.
